Sit
or stand
in the middle of the room,
turn the music on
surround sound, around
you go floating
in the rhythmic sea of sharps and flats.
Treble clef: Every Good Boy Does Fine
and FACE, the bass a good catch.
Scaling through the highs and lows
all the way to middle C
a constant breeze.
One-two-three, one-two-three waltzing,
amoroso avec l’amour.
Hip-hop to the staccato beat,
“Get up and move yo’ feet!”
Two-steppin’ honky-tonk,
All My Ex’s Live in Texas*.
Let the tempo
feed your temperament
as you sit
or stand
in the middle of the room
with the music on
surround sound, around
you go.

I love so much how you brought music into this and you took me back decades with the mnemonic…wow! I think I missed your birthday on fb, yesterday…so happy day after!
very cool feel to this…love all the music touches…every good boy…ha…i know that…and nice change of pace throughout as well with the various forms of music…you spin me right round baby, right round, like a record baby right round….haha….the around you go sent me there…smiles. enjoy the ear worm…smiles.
think i feel like dancing after reading this…and like listening to some real loud music…enjoyed it laurie
Good grief, you just reminded me how I used to dance to the music blarring out loud as I did the ironing. LOLOL Imagine! Haha
Loved this
Very clever use of sentence length, the way it goes up and down and then staccato. In fact, if it didn’t sound so silly, I’d say that I felt a little dizzy, as if I’d been spun around by the sound.
Wonderful! Really has a dancing feel to it. Nice!
I love this! I wasn’t much for dancing when very young, but I loved music lessons and bands, so I felt a split image here–the instrument player center reading the scales and reading th4e directions, and the dancer with a radio or player of some kind. So closing my eyes, I imagined dancing as I played–yes, both–not exactly possible with a trombone, but still, if alone, and memorized . . . nice changing dynamics throughout.
Love this. A little music in the middle of the room is sure to raise the spirits. Think I’ll go raise my spirits now. Thanks for this Laurie.
I love it – you know a lot about music! This put me right there, groovin’ .
Music is a meal at the oddest times, while ironing, in the car, in the bathroom shower, on the throne–and it is mathematics too, liquid poetry with notes rather than words; really dug it.
You got with music, I was pulled in right off
Nice beat and music notes here Laurie ~

Thanks for the dance!
A reminder poetry and music can go together. The mnemonic was good ‘invention’. It helped really! Such a graceful dance routine! Great write Laurie!
This really got me moving. I shall now dance all the way to my cup of coffee!
Lovely.
I love this musical place. In UK, every good boy deserves fruit!
Oh, I’ve done this more than a few times!! Love it…I must do it again soon! Thanks Laurie for reminding me
Oh very cool…very very cool!
