Are You Crazy, Poet?

Why must you stare at me all day?
I can see the wheels are spinning
Your fingers brush my keys and play
With lavish words, a sweet bouquet
I love it when you act that way
Hazel eyes pensive and grinning
Why must you stare at me all day?
I can see the wheels are spinning

  1. haha….that might not be a bad thing if you got your computer writing for you…lol on his watching your wheels spinning…smiles…and loves it when you act like that…smiles.

  2. Methinks one day they will be doing exactly that too!!! LOL Now, that’s an even more scary thought, than this very witty/clever write :)

How fun. To be on the end of the creative process–it might well look like this from the other side. Question: is it really seeing Muse at work, with you a the instrument?

Still chuckling. Good one, my friend.

  4. Too funny! Probably thinks you are a computer too, except at one point it gets a little erotic. I believe it thinks you are making a play for it:
“Your fingers brush my keys and play
With lavish words, a sweet bouquet
I love it when you act that way”

  5. such great rhythm here. nice!

  6. Love the rhythm and that you flipped the perspective from being the observer to the observed.

  7. lol…..I enjoyed this….a fun poem! :)

  8. So clever…but beautifully poetic and well written….the computers of poets must be very sensitive things….this was great fun

  9. If only I could get mine to write my interviews, hee hee. This is cute!

I know if I could see you, I would certainly see those wheels spinning. Kudos, Laurie! (Loved hearing your voice..just that hint of hill country Texas).

  10. This is different. :) I like the idea of the computer having a poetic mind. The repeated lines has great effect — imagine this being read by computer voice.

  11. Ha..ha…fun one with the computer writing for you ~ I wish it will happen to me one day ~

  12. So your computer wrote that… No, I wouldn’t like being stared at all day long either…my computer may have something to say about that too! Very cute, Laurie.

  13. heh-heh – cute and astute ma’am :)

  14. Very neat! Love the voice that you have given to your computer!!

  15. your computer is quite talented ;)

  16. haha…see…i always knew that computers have a life of their own..not bad at all when they start to jump in a bit in the poetry fun and write a bit for us..smiles

it must be strange to be a computer
    watching the journeys of minds
i wonder how long it will be before they
do wish to comment on our writing =)

Great! I mean, are you saying that computers haven’t already taken over??? ;)

  19. Deserves a standing ovation – and asks for several encores – please?

  20. It won’t be long when we are the ones who react to what the computer has to say. They run our lives and that would be the day. A bit scary though! Nice write Laurie!

  21. I’ve been wondering if mine was watching me!

  22. Typical computer taking all the high fives for your poem

  23. rmp

your computer rants quite beautiful poetry. I often think the blinking cursor is laughing at me.

  24. Now, I wish my computer might speak to me someday like that! I am not looking forward to the day when they read my mind, though, as that might get scary. However, I dislike typing so a computer that could somehow anticipate my thought – but not too much – might work okay. Your poem has a great structure, repeating the question that makes the ones and zeroes so human, yet still close to its machine soul.

  25. Mirror mirror on the wall, who’s the craziest of them all?
    We all are!
    Taut little write.. Nicely done

  26. ds

HA! I wish my computer could do that…

  27. LOL! Very cool. I love that perspective.

  28. Your computer is showing budding genius! Love the way the poet looks back!

  29. Whoa…I wish mine would be there for me…I’m so blocked!
