Imagine running cross-country,
jumping over the ocean
to an unknown continent
where giant pineapples await
at the bottom of awesome slides so fast
your butt shoots brilliant sparks,
friction mistaken for farts.
Some may think you pooped green apples
but there’s nothing on your underwear
when you land beneath a window
like fresh fruit that fell from the sky
next to a talking brown iguana
who wonders where you exploded from
and says you look like starfruit
or perhaps starfish, the point being
the bright star glistening on your head
clears his phobophobic mind. You
watch him fall asleep, start to snore
wish you were in the Red Sea
snorkeling with dolphins
who only want to scrub
your back.

The first thing that popped into my head was some old video game, like Mario Cart Racing hehe because I always fell off the side of the cliffs in that game. I like this. Sparks line as Brian mentioned is really funny haha

More than time for this fun cavalcade of childish notions & sweet pastiche of musical swirls & adolescent-speak. Knew half way through we were witnessing words spilling out of kids; thanks for the chuckles.
LMAO this was hilarious!! And incredibly inventive!! Aside from the humor you have a mastery of language!
I am rolling on the floor with this one lady! LOVE it!
Om my gosh. HA! Gotta love a fart poem, literal fruit from the loom. Excellente!
It reminded me of the island hallucination in Life of Pi, but in this case fun not frightening.
Laurie;
What a fantastic poem you have woven from your diverse list of words. The images live fully alive in your words. I love the whole thing I cannot pick a favorite part.
Ha, what a combination of words! “your butt shoots brilliant sparks,
friction mistaken for farts.” – so funny. I also love phobophobia. Fun poem.
Fabulous fun *smiles* – so many funny lines – I bet your kids loved it too
Your butt shoots brilliant sparks…love this!!!

Ha, so funny. Looks like a Beatles cartoon actually. I’m the walrus
Wonderful images this conjures up in my mind! Superb stuff.
Laughing.
This is why Moms (or house Dads) love to get out and mingle with adults when the spouse comes home — look what a full day of kid talk can do to a brain!
ha…everyone got into the act
Quite the creative poetics here…great job with what you were given…and phobophobia?
Oh. My. Goodness! I struggled with including only one person’s words; four would have finished me off completely. And the poem is such fun – brilliant images and I can see something a bit Sgt Pepper’s in here too – Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds I think.
Oh, my! And I thought that I had it rough with the list Baby Puppy gave me!
that was quite a trip. you really brought the Mad Lib concept to life. I really enjoyed this.
How fun, Laurie. I bet your young contributors loved it…that age is so fascinated with farts!
Hahahahaha. this is wonderful. a family poem. you did brilliantly with this, Laurie. I do like that talking brown iguana especially much.
Super well done, Laurie – you really managed to plump lyricism from all these words – just terrific. k.
